OFFICIAL MINUTES OF ZONE 9 MEETING

January 23, 2012

Zone Chairman Richard Nowe opened Zone 9’s meeting at the Liverpool Lions Club with the Lions Invocation.

The following clubs were in attendance: Bridgewater - King Lion, acting Sec., 4 other lions for a total 6

CBNRC - King Lion, Secretary, 2 others for a total of 4

Liverpool – King Lion, Act. Sec., 11 others for a total of 13

Lockeport – Act. Pres., Act. Sec., 2 others for a total 4

Mahone Bay – president, Secretary, 6 others for a total 8

New Germany – president, Secretary, 3 others for a total 5

Shelburne – President 3 others for a total 4

Riverport – President for a total 1

PDG Charlie Uhlman reviewed the voting procedures that only the presidents, secretary or their alternates could vote at a zone meeting.

The minutes of the September 14th zone meeting were approved by KL Bill Leighton (Riverport) second by KL Don Wright (CBNRC). MC

ZC Richard announced that the next Zone meeting will be held in Lockeport on April 2nd.

Lion Gary Langille from Mahone Bay introduced the guest speakers Brian Veinot and Brian Lent who gave a very interesting talk about the Dreams Take Flight program. Brian Veinot will send out a letter for sponsorship to all clubs through PDG Charlie Uhlman.

All 8 clubs passed in a written report with Mahone Bay and Riverport also presenting their reports.

ZC Richard asked if any clubs had a suggestion for a zone project to raise funds for the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore. Several clubs have already made pledges or held a fund raising project.

Moved by Lion Gary Langille (Mahone Bay) second by Lion Robert Trainor (Liverpool) that each club would hold their own project to raise fund for the Health Services Foundation. MC

Moved by President Lion Cathie Nowe (Mahone Bay) second by Act. Sec. Lion Robert Trainor (Liverpool) for the Zone Chairman to bill the clubs at the end of the year for Zone Expenses, and for each club to pay for the Zone Chairman’s expenses if they request him to attend a special function (i.e. installation of officers, Charter Night, etc.) MC

ZC Richard reminded all clubs that they should have their nominating committee in place this month for their incoming officers for the 2012-13 year.

ZC Richard also reminded clubs that nominations for Zone Chairman for Zone 9 should be sent to him in writing no later than March 16, 2012. ZC Richard stated that he has taken on other commitments and is not able to offer as Zone Chair for another year.

Mahone Bay, New Germany and Shelburne all had great tail twister jokes that had everyone laughing.

ZC Richard thanked the Liverpool Lions for hosting the second zone 9 meeting and thanked all clubs for attending.
